June 9 2017, Sin Kwang (M) Optical launched a media event at Westin Hotel Kuala Lumpur, presented the latest collection from Derigo, Kering, Rodenstock and more. The local optical distributor, Sin Kwang had started to distribute Kering Eyewear brands since 2016, and lately, GUCCI was added as part of the portfolio expansion.
Porsche Design Group granted Rodenstock with the global licence for the development, production and sale of eyewears for ladies and men for another 10 more years, until 2027. Flowing Titanium, the everlasting Iconic inspiration, Metal Trim were one of the few eyewear collections displayed at the event. Rodenstock principal, Prairie attended the event and highlighted the collection features and functions.
“The luxury brand thrills its customers with functional, purist designs and has embodied its own type of luxury right from the start: It is called engineered luxury. To Porsche Design, luxury means the combination of a first class design, innovative functionality, perfect craftsmanship, and the highest quality materials – with the goal of creating companions for life. This is because trends come and go, but Porsche Design remains.” – SPECTR- http://old.eyewear-magazine.com/brands/porsche-design/
Kering terminated GUCCI license agreement with Safilo at the end of 2016 because they want to take the eyewear business in house. And with Alessandro Michele, the appointed Creative Director for GUCCI, he led the brand into a whole new level of luxury brand repositioning – with a fresh direction. Hence, the collection presented on the event day was Bold, Eclectic and Young, with bright colours and shimmery powder for sunglasses. Gone were the days that GUCCI attracts only the older generations.
Police by Derigo, the blue lens pioneer showed the fun side of rebelliousness. The edgy SS17 collection sees a lot of mirror lenses, with multi-colour coating and colourful frames that play up the young and urban characteristics of Police wearer. On the event day, many got to wear and experience the limited edition 24k gold eyewear piece, designed for the Olympics 2016, signed by Police Ambassador, Neymar Jr. This gold piece is only 100 pairs in the world, and Malaysia has the one only for display purposes. Why gold? Because Police believes that all Neymar fans are winners and deserves a gold.
The event peaked with a lucky draw and there were 5 lucky media winners, each brought home a pair of Police or GUCCI. Everyone was beaming and the event ended with a group shot.
